€2.5 million for 1-MW demonstration by Horizon EIC Accelerator

High-efficiency 1 MW Dynamic Electrolyser Unit for cost-efficient production of PtX-based green methanol was awarded €2.5 million for EU Horizon EIC Accelerator grant.

Power-to-X (PtX) converts water and intermittent renewable energy to high-value products. As electricity constitutes app. 80% of the P2X product cost, high conversion efficiency is critical. However, the current best solution, Solid Oxide Electrolysis (SOE) technology has a limited lifetime and dynamic capabilities are a current barrier to large-scale commercialisation.

Dynelectro provides a solution using a novel SOE technology with a mix of alternating (AC) and direct current (DC), called AC:DC. The technology can accommodate fluctuating green power, and temperature variation and thus increase the lifetime of SOE stacks
from 2 to 10 years.

Dynelectro has been granted €2.5 million to develop, construct, and field test a 1-Megawatt unit using this revolutionary AC:DC method and produce 100 tons of green H2 during the project period including operating protocols.

This achievement is essential for Dynelectro to realize its ambitious plans for upscaling and capitalize on the projected market growth, positioning the technology as a key contributor to the energy transition and the advancement of renewable low-carbon hydrogen production.
