Revolutionising hydrogen production
Dynelectro was selected to join the H2UB startup innovation pavilion a the 2024 European Hydrogen Week in Brussels. With over 9,000 attendees and more than 220 companies in attendance, this was the key message of co-founder, Samantha Phillips:
Dynelectro is leading the charge in hydrogen innovation with its cutting-edge dynamic electrolysis units. By harnessing the power of solid oxide technology, the company has developed systems that deliver up to five times the performance of traditional methods. This dramatically lowers LCOH (levelised cost of hydrogen). This breakthrough positions Dynelectro at the forefront of the green energy revolution, meeting the growing demand for affordable and scalable hydrogen solutions.
Next-Generation Technology
At the heart of Dynelectro’s innovation is its proprietary AC:DC technology, which uses rapidly reversing pulses to extend the lifetime of electrodes by five times. This approach not only increases efficiency but also significantly reduces operational costs. Compared to alkaline (AE) and proton exchange membrane (PEM) systems, Dynelectro’s solid oxide electrolysis offers unparalleled efficiency and scalability, making it a game-changer for industrial applications.
Applications in Power-to-X
Dynelectro’s electrolysis units are tailored for Power-to-X (PTX) technologies, which convert renewable electricity into chemical energy like hydrogen or ammonia. These systems enable rapid deployment, creating new opportunities for industrial feedstock and supporting global decarbonization goals. By targeting sectors such as heavy industry and energy storage, Dynelectro is paving the way for a cleaner future.
A Roadmap to Commercial Scale
With its sights set on scaling operations, Dynelectro has outlined a clear development timeline: 2020: Proof of Concept completed; 2022: Small-scale pilot projects initiated; 2024: Launch of commercial-scale operations; 2026: Full-scale commercial deployment.
Funding and Recognition
Dynelectro’s efforts have been enabled with €20 million (innovation funded projects, business angels and venture capital) enabling the company to accelerate its commercialisation plans. Its innovative approach has also been validated in leading scientific journals, including a study published in the Journal of Power Sources that highlights the effectiveness of its solid oxide technology.
Building a Greener Future
As the world transitions to a low-carbon economy, Dynelectro is well-positioned to play a pivotal role. By forming strategic partnerships and scaling its operations, the company is not only redefining the hydrogen production landscape but also supporting global efforts to combat climate change. With commercial scaling set for 2024, Dynelectro is poised to deliver on its promise of affordable, efficient, and scalable hydrogen solutions. The future of clean energy is here, and Dynelectro is leading the way.
Market Validation
According to the European Innovation Council technical evaluation: “[the technology] may significantly transform and strongly accelerate a major new market. It therefore justifies a breakthrough characterisation. It supports the adoption of hydrogen as a major clean energy carrier and strongly contributes to the EU’s Green Deal.”
