HiFiMet – 1 MW DEU
High-efficiency 1 MW Dynamic Electrolyser Unit for cost-efficient production of P2X-based green methanol
The HiFiMet project aims to accelerate the green energy transition by developing a high-efficiency 1 MW Dynamic Electrolyser Unit (DEU) based on Dynelectro’s patented AC:DC solid oxide electrolysis technology (SOE+).
This innovative approach enables electrolyser systems to operate dynamically with fluctuating renewable energy sources while significantly extending stack lifetime from 2 to 10 years and increasing conversion efficiency to up to 90%. Unlike competing technologies, the system does not rely on scarce materials, making it scalable and commercially attractive.
The project’s primary objective is to design, construct and field test a 1 MW prototype capable of producing 100 tons of green hydrogen, validating its performance under real-world conditions. Successful demonstration of this technology will reduce the cost of green hydrogen and e-fuels by 15-30%. This will help the EU achieve its targets in energy security, decarbonisation and renewable hydrogen capacity.
By preparing the pathway for industrial upscaling to MW- and GW-scale systems, the project positions Dynelectro as a leading contributor to the future Power-to-X market and the global shift toward cost-effective, low-carbon energy solutions.
